McDaniel finishes second at CC Championships

NEW TRIPOLI, Pa. – Jennie Weiner (Stony Brook, N.Y./Ward Melville) shot a two-day total of 176 to finish third overall and lead McDaniel to a second-place finish at the 2008 Centennial Conference (CC) women’s golf championships on Saturday and Sunday at Olde Homestead Golf Course.
Gettysburg, who trailed the Green Terror by eight strokes entering Sunday’s final round, outshot McDaniel by 18 strokes in round two to win by 10 strokes, 721-731. The Green Terror combined to fire rounds of 357 and 374, respectively.
The Bullets’ Merrill Fortier captured medalist honors with a two-day total of 166 (86-80). Weiner followed up her opening-round score of 81, which led the field, with a 95.
Nicole Christy (Towson, Md.) carded rounds of 90 and 87, respectively, to finish one stroke behind Weiner in fourth place.
Val Saucier (Cockeysville, Md./Dulaney) posted a two-day total of 188 behind rounds of 93 on Saturday and 95 on Sunday.
Elyse Massa (Wescosville, Pa./Emmaus) followed up an opening-round score of 93 with a round of 97 on Sunday to finish with a 190.
Amy Glock (Lineboro, Md./Hereford) rounded out the McDaniel competitors with a total score of 205 (108-97).
