Ceglarski, Browning lead fourth-ranked Gettysburg to 19-10 win over McDaniel

GETTYSBURG, Pa. – Katie Ceglarski and Krissy Browning combined to tally 13 of Gettysburg’s 19 goal to lead the fourth-ranked Bullets to a 19-10 victory over visiting McDaniel in Centennial Conference (CC) women’s lacrosse action on Wednesday.
Clinging to an 8-7 lead with fewer than five minutes to play in the first half, Gettysburg (14-1, 7-0 CC) tallied four of the game’s next five goals and 11 of the game’s final 14 for the nine-goal victory. The Bullets finished with a 48-22 advantage in the shot column, including holding a 23-9 edge in the decisive second half.
Brittany Baer (Westminster, Md./Westminster) paced the Green Terror (7-5, 3-3 CC) with four goals.
After Ceglarski and Baer traded goals in the game’s first 2:25, Browning got into the act, finishing a solo run at the 2:34 mark.
Ceglarski, who added four assists to go with her seven goals, stretched the lead to 3-1 just 28 seconds later before Kelly Scheler (Forest Hill, Md./C. Milton Wright) converted a free-position shot to pull McDaniel back within one.
Unassisted markers from Ceglarski, Megan Moore and Christi Farrell within 2:31 after Scheler’s tally pushed the lead to 6-2 at the 6:51 mark.
Consecutive tallies from Brittany Lines (Pasadena, Md./Chesapeake), Chelsea Ferruzzi (Jenkintown, Pa./Jenkintown) and Baer once again pulled the visitors within one but Heidi Bitter finished a Ceglarski pass and Browning hit a free-position shot to make it 8-5 with 12:42 to play in the opening half.
Baer and Lindsey McDonald (Germantown, Md./Damascus) trimmed the deficit to 8-7 before Browning capped the first-half scoring with a second free-position goal.
Ceglarski needed just 21 seconds in the second half to stretch the lead back to three.
Lines momentarily closed the gap to two but back-to-back Browning markers made it a 12-8 game with 22:31 to play.
Still leading 14-10 after Baer finished high at the 43:59 mark, the Bullets tallied the final five goals to set the final margin.
McDaniel returns to action at home against Muhlenberg on Saturday. Game time is 1 p.m.
