McDaniel rolls to 20-6 win over Haverford
WESTMINSTER, Md. – Brittany Baer (Westminster, Md./Westminster) recorded five goals to lead McDaniel to a 20-6 win over Haverford in Centennial Conference (CC) women’s lacrosse action on Saturday. Katie Herrick-Reynolds led the Fords (5-9, 1-6 CC) with three goals.
Playing in front of the senior day crowd, senior Kerrie Wuenschel (Sykesville, Md./South Carroll) notched four goals and added an assist for the Green Terror (8-5, 4-3 CC), who outshot Haverford 41-21 on the day.
Knotted at 2-all 4:15 into the game, Stephanie Sudbrook (Baltimore, Md./Loch Raven) converted a free-position shot at the 8:47 mark to spark a 20-minute, 40-second spurt of nine consecutive goals to give McDaniel control of the game.
Herrick-Reynolds netted unassisted tallies on either side of the intermission to pull the Fords within 11-4.
After tallies from Brittany Lines (Pasadena, Md./Chesapeake) and Kelly Scheler (Forest Hill, Md,/C. Milton Wright), Lauren Finkel and Herrick-Reynolds responded with solo runs of their own to close the gap to 13-6 before the Green Terror reeled off the games final seven goals.
Sarah White (Lincoln, Del./Cape Henlopen) and posted seven saves for McDaniel while Siobhan Neitzel made nine at the other end.
Sudbrook led all players with five groundballs and five draw controls for the Green Terror.
McDaniel returns to action at home against Dickinson on Wednesday. Game time is 4 p.m.
