Pritchard, Hargest carry No. 2 Franklin & Marshall past McDaniel, into CC Championship Game
LANCASTER, Pa. – Jen Pritchard tallied six goals and added an assist to lead to lead top-seeded and No. 2-ranked Franklin & Marshall to an 18-6 victory over McDaniel in the 2008 Centennial Conference (CC) women’s lacrosse semifinals on Saturday.
The Diplomats (15-1), who also got five goals from Blake Hargest, advanced to Sunday’s championship game against second-seeded Gettysburg, which downed Dickinson 12-6 in the day’s second semifinal.
Brittany Baer (Westminster, Md./Westminster) paced the Green Terror (10-7) with three goals.
After Hargest and Baer exchanged tallies in the game’s first 3:16, Pritchard hit back-to-back markers off Sarah Meisenberg feeds to spark a 5-0 run that gave Franklin & Marshall a 6-1 lead at the 13:48 mark.
Meredith Lussier and Sarah Meisenberg tallied the first of their three goals during the stretch.
Brittany Lines (Pasadena, Md./Chesapeake) momentarily halted the run with a free-position goal at the 16:15 mark before Pritchard, Meisenberg and Lussier stretched the lead to 9-2 just 10 minutes, 44 seconds later.
Baer’s second goal made it a 9-3 game at the intermission before the Diplomats reeled off the first six goals of the second half to open up a 15-3 advantage with 16:53 to play.
