Three named to All-Centennial Conference women’s lacrosse team; Ferruzzi earns first-team honors
LANCASTER, Pa. – Three members of the McDaniel College women’s lacrosse team have been named to the 2008 All-Centennial Conference (CC) team on Thursday.
Junior Chelsea Ferruzzi (Jenkintown, Pa./Jenkintown) earned first-team honors while sophomore Brittany Baer (Westminster, Md./Westminster) and Lee Oliver (Jenkintown, Pa./Jenkintown) were named to the second team.
Ferruzzi, a midfielder, currently ranks third on the team with 31 goals and 38 points. She also ranks among the team leaders in ground balls (29), draw controls (34) and caused turnovers (12) entering this weekend.
Baer, an attacker, enters the CC semifinals as the team leader in nearly every category. In addition to matching the program record with 60 goals in her first 16 games with the program, she also paces the team with 72 points. She also leads the team with 16 caused turnovers and 44 draw controls while ranking second with 31 ground balls.
Oliver, a defender, paces the team with 37 ground balls. She is also among the team leaders with 10 caused turnovers.
McDaniel (10-6, 5-4 CC) advanced to Saturday’s CC semifinals against top-seeded and No. 2-ranked Franklin & Marshall with a 22-16 win over Muhlenberg in the first round of the conference tournament on Wednesday. Game time is 1 p.m.
