Bridgewater works overtime to down McDaniel in opener
BRIDGEWATER, Va. – Krista Ready scored with three minutes remaining in the second overtime to lead Bridgewater to a 2-1 victory over McDaniel in season-opening women’s soccer action on the first day of the Bridgewater Labor Day Classic on Saturday.
Brittany Baer (Westminster, Md./Westminster) scored the lone goal for the Green Terror (0-1) in her debut with the squad.
After a scoreless first 72:58, Elizabeth Smith staked the Eagles (1-0) to 1-0 advantage.
At the 82-minute mark, Baer knotted the game at 1-all.
After a scoreless final eight minutes in regulation, first overtime and seven minutes of the second overtime, Ready got the game-winner for Bridgewater.
Leanne Hollinger (Westminster, Md./Winters Mill) made 11 saves in goal for the Green Terror while Brooke Barham made six stops.
McDaniel returns to action against York (Pa.) in the second day of the Bridgewater Tournament on Sunday. Game time is 2 p.m.
