Four unanswered goals send York to 5-1 win over McDaniel

BRIDGEWATER, Va. – Emily Sullivan recorded a goal and two assists to lead York (Pa.) to a 5-1 victory over McDaniel in non-conference women’s soccer action on the second day of the Bridgewater Labor Day Classic on Sunday.
Sarah Wallace (Gosheen, Mass./Hampshire Regional) added the lone goal for the Green Terror (0-2), who were held to just a pair of first-half shots.
The Spartans (2-0) got tallies from five different players and held a 25-2 advantage in the shot column.
After Erin Ruhn finished a Sullivan assist in the game’s sixth minute, Wallace tallied an unassisted marker at the 21:32 mark to knot the game at 1-all.
Ilana Kline made it a 2-1 game just 4:55 before halftime before York tallied three times in the second half for the final margin.
Brittany Nechay scored off Sullivan’s second assist of the day in the 65th minute before Sullivan got her lone goal in the 88th minute.
After assisting on Sullivan’s goal, Erin Mummert knocked home an unassisted tally with 25 seconds left.
Leanne Hollinger (Westminster, Md./Winters Mill) recorded double-digit saves for the second straight day, notching 10 stops.
McDaniel returns to action at St. Mary’s (Pa.) on Tuesday. Game time is 4 p.m.
