ST. MARY’S CITY, Md. – Tessa Searle’s unassisted goal in the 54th minute staked St. Mary’s (Md.) to a 3-0 lead en route to a 4-2 win over McDaniel in non-conference women’s soccer action on Tuesday.
Leanne Hollinger (Westminster, Md./Winters Mill) made 17 saves in goal for the Green Terror (0-3), reaching double-digit stops for the third time in three games this year.
The Seahawks (1-1) finished with a 36-4 advantage in the shot column and a 7-0 edge in corner kicks.
Lauren Carrier converted the only of St. Mary’s 18 first-half shots at the 16:31 mark to give her squad a 1-0 lead.
Fewer than five minutes into the second stanza, Erika Kenny finished a Katie Klotz assist to double the Seahawk advantage.
After Searle booted a cleared ball back in and over the head of Hollinger to make it 3-0, Melanie Armstrong (Mt. Sinai, N.Y./Mt. Sinai) converted a free kick for her first goal of the season five seconds later.
Sophie Esparza made it 4-1 in the 69th minute before Brittany Baer (Westminster, Md./Westminster) set the final margin with her second goal of the year at the 76:30 mark.
McDaniel returns to action at home against Frostburg on Saturday. Game time is 3 p.m.
