Big first half propels Elizabethtown to 4-0 win over McDaniel
ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. – Four different players scored a goal as Elizabethtown defeated McDaniel 4-0 in non-conference women’s soccer action on Wednesday.
Leanne Hollinger (Westminster, Md./Winters Mill) made six saves in goal for the Green Terorr (0-5), who were outshot 17-3 on the day.
The Blue Jays (4-1) tallied three goals in a first half in which they held a 12-1 advantage in shots.
Jenna Russo got the scoring started in the 16th minute. Brooke Dotterer crossed a ball that Jamie Alvaniitakis played back to Russo, who blasted the shot for a 1-0 lead.
Three minutes later, Erin Scott doubled the advantage on a rebound off a missed penalty kick by Jenny Fromuth.
Fromuth added her own tally in the 35th minute, winning a 1-on-1 battle with Hollinger.
Dotterer converted a penalty kick 3:15 into the second half to set the final margin.
McDaniel returns to action at Muhlenberg on Saturday. Game time is 4 p.m.
