Baer leads McDaniel to first win of season
WESTMINSTER, Md. – Brittany Baer (Westminster, Md./Westminster) recorded two goals and assisted on two more to lead McDaniel to a 4-0 win over Bryn Mawr in Centennial Conference (CC) women’s soccer action on Saturday.
The Green Terror (1-6, 1-1 CC) held the Owls (3-4-1, 0-2 CC) to eight shots while taking 15 in the first win of the Bryan Shumaker era. Laura Costanzo had four of Bryn Mawr’s eight attempts.
Just 47 seconds into play, Baer followed up a Kelly Neel (Timonium, Md./Dulaney) shot-and-save for her fourth goal of the season. The Neel assist was the first helper by any McDaniel player this year.
It wasn’t until another 29-plus minutes had elapsed that Baer found the back of the net again, giving the Green Terror a 2-0 halftime edge.
At the 67:40 mark, Baer led a breakaway and Tia Scott (Hagerstown, Md./North Hagerstown), who beat the Collette Pullion and found the left corner of the net for her first collegiate goal.
Just 33 seconds later, Scott fired in another shot off a long pass from Baer.
Leanne Hollinger (Westminster, Md./Winters Mill) recorded five saves for the Green Terror, while Pullion had three for the Owls.
McDaniel returns to action at home against Lebanon Valley on Thursday. Game time is 4 p.m.
