Anderson paints McDaniel in corner, leads Dickinson to 4-1 win
CARLISLE, Pa. – Courtney Anderson assisted on the first three goals of Dickinson’s 4-1 win over McDaniel in Centennial Conference (CC) women’s soccer action on Wednesday.
Twice in the game’s first 10:42, Anderson found Abby Snyder to stake the Red Devils (6-6-1, 1-3-1 CC) to an early 2-0 lead.
Sarah Wallace (Gosheen, Mass./Hampshire Regional) tallied the lone goal for the Green Terror (2-11, 1-4 CC), scoring off a Kelly Neel (Timonium, Md./Dulaney) feed with 1:56 to play.
After Snyder and Anderson connected on a corner kick from the left side at the 5:26 mark, the two mirrored the play from the right side just 5 minutes, 16 seconds later.
In the 53rd minute, Anderson found a new target from the flag, hitting Lisa Nichols for a 3-0 lead.
Molly Schaefer finished a Sara White feed at the 75:22 mark to put Dickinson on top 4-0 before Neel found Wallace on a corner kick to break up the shutout.
Leanne Hollinger (Westminster, Md./Winters Mill) recorded 10 saves in goal for McDaniel while Kaitlyn Hartmann had three stops in goal for the Red Devils.
Dickinson finished with a 31-7 advantage in shots, including by a 19-1 margin in the first half. The Red Devils also controlled corner kicks, earning 14 to the Green Terror’s three, including holding an 8-0 advantage before halftime.
McDaniel returns to action at Ursinus on Saturday. Game time is 1 p.m.
