Diehl helps keep Ursinus on top with 4-0 win over McDaniel
COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. – Courtney Diehl netted two goals to lead Ursinus to a 4-0 win over McDaniel in Centennial Conference (CC) women’s soccer action on Saturday.
Leanne Hollinger (Westminster, Md./Winters Mill) recorded 10 saves for the Green Terror (2-12, 1-5 CC), who were outshot 20-10 on the day. Ashley Potter stopped nine of the 10 shots for the Bears (9-3-2, 6-0-1 CC) while also assisting on her team’s first goal.
Just 4:23 into the contest, Potter found Alex Shivers to give Ursinus a 1-0 lead before Diehl doubled the advantage 10 minutes, 6 seconds later.
A Megan Ascanio penalty kick in the 44th minute gave the Bears a 3-0 halftime advantage before Diehl finished an Ascanio feed just 2:34 into the second half.
McDaniel returns to action at home against Gettysburg on Wednesday. Game time is 3 p.m.
