Hacker leads Muhlenburg to 4-2 win over McDaniel
WESTMINSTER, Md. – Kasey Hacker recorded two goals to lead Muhlenburg to a 4-2 victory over McDaniel in the Centennial Conference (CC) women’s soccer opener for both teams on Saturday.
Rachel McCallum (Brusnwick, Md./Brunswick) tallied one goal and one assist for the Green Terror (2-5, 0-1 CC), who were outshot by the Mules (6-1, 1-0 CC) by a 26-3 margin.
Knotted at 2-all, Jayne Condon broke the deadlock with a strike in the 68th minute before Meghan O’Grady set the final margin with an insurance goal at the 88:48 mark.
After a scoreless first half, McCallum finished a breakaway 5:15 into the second stanza.
Just over two minutes later, Bridget Thomas (West Chester, Pa./Archmere Academy) found the back of the net off a cross by McCallum for the 2-0 lead.
Hacker quickly evened the game by the 58th minute, scoring back-to-back goals 2 minutes, 28 seconds apart.
Leanne Hollinger (Westminster, Md./Winters Mill) made 10 saves for McDaniel while Kate Morrissey did not make a save in the three shots she faced.
McDaniel returns to action at home against Columbia Union on Thursday. Game time is 5 p.m.
