Colombo lifts Swarthmore to double-overtime win over McDaniel
SWARTHMORE, Pa. – Megan Colombo scored in the 104 th minute to break a scoreless deadlock and lift Swarthmore to a 1-0 double-overtime victory over visiting McDaniel in Centennial Conference (CC) women’s soccer action on Saturday.
The Garnet (7-2-1, 3-1 CC), who came into the game ranked fifth in the latest NSCAA Division III Middle-Atlantic Region poll, held a 30-4 advantage in shots through 103 minutes, 57 seconds.
Leanne Hollinger (Westminster, Md./Winters Mill) kept the Green Terror (4-6, 1-2 CC) in the game, making 10 saves, including numerous on breakaway attempts.
With 6:03 remaining in the second overtime, Maggie DeLorme played a ball through that Colombo touched into the right side of the net for the game-winner.
The Green Terror returns to action at Franklin & Marshall on Saturday. Game time is 6:30 p.m.
