Centenary downs McDaniel, 27-15
HACKETTSTOWN, N.J. – Rickey Reed opened the match with a 1-minute, 9-second pin and No. 24 Centenary cruised to a 27-15 victory over McDaniel in non-conference wrestling action on Saturday.
Facing a 21-0 deficit, Zach Hetrick (157) recorded a 24-second pin for the Green Terror (0-2) to break up the shutout.
In addition to taking the first four matches, the Cyclones (1-0) won six bouts on the day to win in their first dual action of the season.
Miek Gummerson (133) and Kyle Nasdeo (149) added first-period pins while John Stillo (141) added a 13-9 victory in between the two falls to make up the 21-0 start.
Cory Beall got a 3-0 win at 165 to pull McDaniel within 21-9 but Derek Schisler and Ben Ostner put together back-to-back decisions to secure the match, 27-9.
Ferris Bond (Gaithersburg, Md./Northwest) got an 8-4 win at 197 before Brock Glotfelty rounded out the match with a 3-0 win at heavyweight.
The Green Terror returns to action at the North/South Duals hosted by Ursinus on Jan. 5. Action begins at 11 a.m.
