McDaniel finishes sixth at Virginia Duals
HAMPTON, Va. – C.J. Naper (New Windsor, Md./South Carroll) recorded a 1-minute, 40-second pin at 133 as part of McDaniel’s 34-10 win over St. Andrews Presbyterian in the sixth-place match of the 2008 Virginia Duals in non-conference wrestling action on Friday and Saturday. After dropping a 53-0 decision to Newberry, the 10th-ranked team in Division II, and a 26-18 match to Division I Millersville, the Green Terror (3-6) got a victory over the Division II Knights to escape the eight-team tournament with one win.
Knotted a 6-all, Zack Hetrick (Hanover, Pa./South Western) and Cory Beall (Hagerstown, Md./Northwest) each earned forfeit wins to take an 18-6 lead in the match.
After Eric Fulmer recorded a victory by major decision at 174, Ryan Deiter (Clarksville, Md./River Hill) notched a forfeit and Ferris Bond (Gaithersburg, Md./Northwest) added a 15-5 victoy at 197 before Brock Glotfelty (Grantsville, Md./Northern Garrett) closed the match with a fall in 1:04.
Against the Marauders, Naper got a win by disqualification. With the match wrapped at 26-6 after back-to-back decision wins at 174 and 184, Bond and Glotfelty closed the match with a pair of forfeit victories.
In the match with Newberry, Naper was the lone Green Terror wrestler to hold his opponent to a decision, falling 9-4.
McDaniel returns to action at home against Delaware Valley on Friday. Match time is 6 p.m.
