McDaniel drops pair of matches to open CC slate
LEXINGTON, Va. – Jordan Alfaro opened the day with a 1-minute, 33-second pin at 125 to lead 19th-ranked Merchant Marine Academy to a 42-6 over McDaniel in Centennial Conference (CC) wrestling action on Saturday.
The Green Terror (3-9, 0-2 CC) also dropped a 33-12 decision to Stevens in the first CC action of the season.
The Mariners (7-4, 2-0 CC) recorded four pins in the match, all coming in the first period.
Cory Beall (Hagerstown, Md./Northwest) and Courtney Nightengale (Sublette, Kan./Cimmaron) recorded McDaniel’s two wins of the match – both by decision. Beall got a 3-0 win at 165 before Nightengale recorded a 5-4 victory at 174.
Against the Ducks (4-1, 2-0 CC), CJ Naper (New Windsor, Md./South Carroll) gave the Green Terror a 6-3 lead in the match with a 6-minute, 29-second pin at 133.
Stevens, keyed by a Pat Conrad pin in 2:13, won the next six bouts before Brock Glotfelty (Grantsville, Md./Northern Garrett) closed the match with a 3-minute, 47-second fall.
McDaniel returns to action at Johns Hopkins on Jan. 30. Match time is 7 p.m.
