McDaniel closes CC slate with 1-2 day at quad
COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. – Zach Hetrick (Hanover, Pa./South Western) went 3-0 to lead McDaniel to a 1-2 day at a Centennial Conference (CC) wrestling quad match at Ursinus on Saturday.
The Green Terror (4-13, 1-6 CC) defeated Muhlenberg (3-8, 2-5 CC) 25-18 for its lone CC win of the dual-meet season. The host Bears (12-2, 5-2 CC) as well as Washington and Lee (5-5, 2-5 CC) each bettered McDaniel, winning 38-9 and 22-21, respectively.
Hetrick (157) notched one of two wins against Ursinus, recording a 1-minute, 5-second pin. He added a 22-7 technical fall in the match with the Mules before closing his day with major decision victory, 13-0.
Brock Glotfelty (Grantsville, Md./Northern Garrett) added a 3-0 day at heavyweight.
He notched a 5-1 win over Ursinus’ Matt Williams before grabbing an 11-3 major decision to secure the Muhlenberg victory. He finished the day with a first-period pin.
Ryan Deiter (Clarksville, Md./River Hill) and Ferris Bond (Gaithersburg, Md./Northwest) led a fierce comeback against the Mules. With their team trailing 18-16, Deiter (184) recorded a 12-2 win before Bond (197) got a 5-3 win.
Cory Beall (Hagerstown, Md./Northwest) and Tim Hall (Westminster, Md./Westminster) rounded out the winners in the lone victory of the day.
Hall just beat the first-period buzzer with a pin at 125 while Beall was a 4-0 winner at 165.
Hall and Bond made it two-win days with victories against the Generals. Hall won by forfeit while Bond won, 6-5.
McDaniel returns to action at the CC Championships hosted by Ursinus on Feb. 23. Action begins at 11 a.m.
