Born in Kandy, Sri Lanka in 1967, Bhante Sujatha entered the monastery in 1978; two years after higher ordination, he traveled to Australia in 1993 where he taught meditation and Buddhism for four years at the monastery before coming to the U.S. Bhante Sujatha is currently pursuing a degree in psychology and is founder of the Blue Lotus Temple in Woodstock, IL. Bhante Sujatha says he "believes in change, rather than tradition," particularly when dealing with life in our fast-paced Western society. His approach to teaching is easy-going rather than dogmatic, and he makes every attempt to explain things to a Western audience so that even absolute beginners can understand how to practice meditation, and how to apply the spiritual teachings to theirn own daily lives.

What do you get when you mix salsa with jazz? The answer is Salsa with a Kick! Venissa Santi is a Latin vocalist on the rise. The musical style which she will be exhibiting in this concert is latin-based, but with a jazzy component that creates a very unique texture. Accompanying Venissa is Francois Zayas on Cuban drums and Karen Rege on piano. This event is FREE to everyone! No cost to get in. We hope you like your salsa mild, because that is what’s on the menu Friday, November 13th at 7 PM in McDaniel Lounge on McDaniel Campus in Westminster, MD.
