Saturday, April 12th: College Press Day, 9:30 a.m.-3:00 p.m., Forum

Student and professional journalists from a three-state region will converge on McDaniel College on Saturday, April 12, for the school's 9th annual College Press Day. The event is staged by McDaniel's chapter of the Society for Collegiate Journalists, the oldest honorary society for student-journalists in the country. 
 
CPD is a day-long gathering of news people that includes workshops, panel discussions and networking. This year's event will feature a keynote speech by John Sherman, an award-winning broadcast journalist from WBAL-TV in Baltimore. The title of Sherman's talk is "Why Journalism Matters." Workshop leaders will include Justin Fenton, a crime reporter with the Baltimore Sun, Karl Ferron, a news photographer also with the Sun, and Jonathan Slade, a communication professor at McDaniel.
 
Student journalists from Maryland, Pennsylvania and West Virginia will be attending the event.
