Alumni from across the country gather on the Hill

May 02, 2011

More than 430 alumni and guests from 24 states returned to the Hill April 29-May 1 to celebrate class anniversaries, tour new campus facilities and learn firsthand by attending Friday classes with undergraduates.

Alumni from the Class of 1961 were the VIP guests of the College, and 85 guests – including 54 classmates from 12 states – returned for weekend activities, such as the traditional luncheon with the President in McDaniel Lounge for the 50th reunion class.

The Class of 2006 had the second highest attendance with over 50 alumni and guests at their dinner in Memorial Plaza. Alumni enjoyed a round of golf on Saturday morning and then relaxed at the Reunion Picnic – complete with live music, beer and wine tasting.

Student-led tours of campus were a big hit all weekend, as alumni took advantage of the beautiful weather to tour their alma mater. Attendees also enjoyed a hard-hat tour of the oldest building on campus, the Fayette Buell House, currently under renovation.  The project is supported by the WMC Heritage Society, and upon completion, will be a home for the Society.
