Dr. Charles W. Manning ’65 was awarded the Eye of the Tiger Award from the University of Memphis Alumni Association during the University of Memphis/University of Tennessee football game. The award is given for outstanding service and leadership to higher education in Tennessee upon Manning’s retirement after 10 years as Chancellor of the Tennessee Board of Regents, which oversees the state’s 43 public universities and colleges.

Karen Pavey Hornberger ’95 of Kinterville, Pa., is the winner of the 2011 Outstanding Individual School Library Information Center Award by the Pennsylvania School Librarians Association because her center exceeds all the criteria for staffing, facilities, collection, budget, and programming.

Jaime W. Luse ’99 has been named a partner at the Baltimore firm Tydings & Rosenberg LLP. Luse defends businesses of all sizes in commercial and employment litigation and regularly handles cases in the state and federal trial and appellate courts of Maryland, the District of Columbia and Virginia.  Ms. Luse is an active member and has served on the Advisory Council of the McDaniel College Women’s Leadership Network.  She also provides pro bono legal services through Maryland Volunteer Lawyers Service.

Mike Hobson M.S. ’07 gives talks about his book, “The Year I Smelled Like Milk,” (published in January 2010), which charts the year he spent in Beijing teaching adult learners, who told him he smelled like milk, and the time afterward when he and two friends biked around rural China.
