Art students showcase work in second of two capstone exhibitions

McDaniel College's Department of Art and Art History presents the second of its two senior capstone shows, “Fridge Worthy,” May 1 through May 11 in The Rice Gallery in Peterson Hall. An opening artists’ reception will be held 7-9 p.m. May 1 in the gallery.

Students showcasing their works are Jordan Beans of Hanover, Pa.; Hannah Matthews of New Windsor, Md.; Jessica Oros of Eldersburg, Md.; Kara Owens of Doylestown, Pa.; Lindsay Riordon of Monkton, Md.; Lauren Scarborough of Eldersburg, Md.; Nicholas Turissi of Hamilton Square, N.J., and Lee Wallick of Parkton, Md.

“Fridge Worthy” includes works in sound, printmaking, darkroom photography, ink, and muslin by Hannah Matthews, artwork in a range of media, from ripped paper, VCR tape, and video and sound art, to more traditional techniques like screen printing and oil painting by Jessica Oros, installation, sculpture, video and photography by Lindsay Riordon, and sculptures showcasing the various qualities of water by Lauren Scarborough, among others.

The exhibition and reception are free and open to the public. Rice Gallery hours are noon-4 p.m. Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday; noon-8 p.m. Thursday; and noon-5 p.m. Saturday. Call 410-857-2595 for more information.
