Come back to the Hill

April 27, 2010

See old friends and meet new ones at the 2010 Class Reunion Weekend April 30-May 2. All graduates are welcome to attend, but class years ending in a “5” or “0” represent major reunions for class members. And, class of 2009 celebrates its first year back with a crab feast on the quad.

Highlights of the weekend include:

  • Picnicking, including wine and beer tasting, with all alumni at noon May 1 in Memorial Plaza.
  • Going back to class to see for yourself that teaching still comes first here.
  • Touring the new Merritt Fitness Center and refurbished Blanche Ward Hall.
  • Learning firsthand from President Joan Develin Coley what’s new on the Hill.
  • Helping your class win one of the coveted Reunion awards, to be presented after the president’s State of the College Address at 2 p.m. May 1 in McDaniel Lounge.

The annual Senior Investiture and Honors Convocation, where students will be honored and the senior class president will be invested in academic regalia, will be at 2 p.m. May 2 in Baker Memorial Chapel. Outstanding alumni Samuel E. Hopkins '80, chief scientific officer for North Carolina-based Scynexis, Inc., and Charles I. Ecker '51, superintendent of Carroll County Public Schools, will be recognized during the ceremony and the distinguished professor of the year will be announced.
