Families Weekend and Homecoming highlight fall events
Here are some important dates to mark on your calendars now. Look for more, including a lecture by Fulbright Scholar-in-Residence Dr. Christopher Molem from Cameroon, as the academic year moves ahead full throttle. Remember too that Fall Break is Oct. 13-14.
Families Weekend – a perfect time to learn about what student life is all about – kicks off on Friday, Sept. 26. Look for a full day of activities on Saturday, Sept. 27, including tailgating on the rim of McDaniel’s famed drive-in stadium as the Green Terror takes on Dickinson College. The men’s soccer team also plans a win against Ursinus College.
What’s more, McDaniel’s Families Weekend and Westminster’s Fallfest (link to Fallfest online) coincide this year – you can shop and dine downtown during Midnight Madness 6 p.m. to midnight on Friday, Sept. 2. If you find yourself with a couple of free moments, you might want to explore the midway full of games, crafts, gifts and food.
For Families Weekend registration and more information, go to www.mcdaniel.edu/familiesweekend.
Homecoming on Nov. 8 features the now famous noon parade of floats moving along Main Street before Green Terror football takes on Gettysburg College at 1 p.m. Along the parade route or during halftime, cheer Alumnus of the Year, McDaniel’s own Homecoming Hunk Jack Baile ’62, M.Ed. ’73, who retired in 1995 from his full-time career as a physical education educator and former middle-school principal and shifted his energies from the classroom to the greater community and to his alma mater.
While you’re exploring campus, stop by the Klitzberg Pavilion to view this year’s Sports Hall of Fame inductees on the e-kiosk.
