Governor O’Malley holds cabinet meeting on campus

May 05, 2009

Governor Martin O’Malley and Maryland’s Executive Cabinet spent an afternoon in Decker College Forum where he proclaimed Westminster as Maryland’s “Capital for a Day” to an audience of 200-plus students, faculty, staff and local leaders. At the April 24 event, the Governor strummed a guitar provided by students, greeted students from the McDaniel Democratic Club, posed with faculty from the Political Science Department and was presented an “organic” T-shirt from students of the Green Terra Committee. Josh Russin ’07, legislature coordinator for the Governor’s Office of Community Initiatives, worked with College staff in preparing the day’s activities. The monthly program brings the State Capital to every corner of Maryland through a series of events across a diverse selection of Maryland cities, towns and communities.
