Great Decisions series offered at McDaniel

Nov 23, 2010

The topics are set for the 2011 Great Decisions lecture series, a continuing education program of the Foreign Policy Association hosted by the Office of Communications and Marketing at McDaniel College.

The eight-week series will be held at noon on Mondays, Jan. 31 through March 21, at McDaniel Lounge on the Westminster campus.

Topics will range from “Rebuilding Haiti” to “Responding to the Financial Crisis to Sanctions and Nonproliferation” and are explored with expertise from invited faculty and guest speakers.

The opening lecture on Jan. 31 will feature alumnus Tom Armbruster, Class of 1980, a career foreign-service officer with stints in Finland, Cuba, Mexico and, most recently, Tajikistan.

The lecture series has proven popular to area citizens and usually fills up fast.

Registration fees include the cost of the Great Decisions briefing book that provides background reading leading up to each week’s program as well as light refreshments. Costs for the series is $40 for individuals and $65 per couple. To register, call McDaniel at 410-857-2290 or email jmuller@mcdaniel.edu. Reservations are requested by Dec. 1.

Developed by the Foreign Policy Association in 1954, the Great Decisions program is the longest standing and largest grassroots world affairs educational program of its kind. Now in its eighth year at McDaniel College, this program is designed to encourage discussion of global issues.
