Holiday pantomime promises raucous family entertainment
Adapted and directed by McDaniel professor Ira Domser, “Cinderella” is presented in the British holiday musical-comedy theatre that takes familiar fairy tales and injects a bit of Vaudeville sensibility, contemporary references and audience participation to create a raucous, noisy entertainment that is fun for everyone in the family.
“The entire family will love the ‘panto’ style,” Domser says. “It combines the slapstick comedy of Commedia del’Arte with the clever humor of Benny Hill and Monty Python’s Flying Circus.”
Alumni have traditionally returned to the McDaniel stage to perform in the holiday pantomime and this year is no exception. The “Cinderella” cast features recent graduates Britt Burr ’11 of Westminster, Md.; Brady Eisenberg ’11 of Owings Mills, Md.; Maggie Powell ’11 of Olean, N.Y.; Katie Ridgway ’10 of Sykesville, Md., and Julia Williams ’11 of Myersville, Md. Current students in the cast are Mae Alexander ’12 of Keymar, Md.; Kevin Anderson ’15 of Pikesville, Md.; Paul Griffin ’14 of Westminster, Md.; Eric Kneller of Eldersburg, Md., and Adrian Rowe ’15 of Edgewood, Md.
Tickets are $10 for adults and $8 for seniors, students and the McDaniel College community. For information, go to http://www.mcdaniel.edu/3594.htm or call the box office at 410-857-2448.
