Homecoming Eve is big awards night for alumni
Recognition of outstanding alumni for both professional, voluntary service and athletic achievements will now be wrapped into one high-impact awards banquet as one of the ambitious initiatives outlined by the Alumni Association Presidential Task Force.
The evening banquet at 6 p.m. Oct. 18 in Gill Gymnasium will feature a multi-visual program and commemorative printed booklet showcasing the alumni-award winners, including Sports Hall of Fame inductees and culminating with the highest honor and presentation of the Alumna of the Year.
For more than three decades, the Alumni Association has seen the Sports Hall of Fame banquet grow in its success and attract alumni in greater numbers back to campus where they meet current students.
“Through uniting all the awards program into the Friday night event, we will raise the significance of all association awards and the diverse achievements of our alumni,” said Don Hobart ’62, chair of the Task Force’s Implementation Committee. “This will become a singular event in the college’s calendar and link generations of proud graduates.”
Award-winning alumni will join past awardees in a future Alumni Hall of Fame set for design and installation on campus. It will serve to highlight their accomplishments while emphasizing the life-changing legacy of the college as has the recognition for the Sports Hall of Fame displayed in Klitzberg Pavilion in Gill Center.
