The month-long French Cinema Festival, sponsored by McDaniel’s department of Foreign Languages, premieres “Coco Avant Chanel” at 7 p.m. Sept. 8 in Decker Auditorium, Lewis Hall of Science. The film, “Coco Before Chanel” in translation, explores the pre-fame life of fashion designer Coco Chanel. Click here for a schedule and description of the five films.

A mixed-media art exhibit by Meghan Ambra ’07, titled “Playing Tiddlywinks with man Hole Covers,” is on display through Sept. 24 in the Rice Gallery in Peterson Hall. For information and gallery hours, call 410-857-2595 or click here.

Wendy Moffat, a professor of English and expert on modern British fiction, will give the annual Holloway Lecture, “Modern Sex,” at 7:30 p.m. Sept. 21 in McDaniel Lounge. She will examine the concept of sexuality and the modernist movement using examples from literature, history, and sexology.
