McDaniel thanks donors, fundraising report posted online
The generosity of alumni, parents and friends marked 2012-13 as a year of funding initiatives that helped advance the college’s educational mission. Gifts received between July 1, 2012 to June 30, 2013 totaled over $8.2 million and represent an increase of 28 percent over the previous year. These types of donations are a major factor in endowment building, and McDaniel’s endowment last quarter surpassed $100 million for the first time.
Every member of the Board of Trustees made gifts to The Fund for McDaniel and two trustees (and WMC alumni), Kevin Hanley ’72 and Bill Westervelt ’71, offered a challenge grant with $144,472 generated by their initiative.
“Each and every gift counts and has a huge impact on grant-awarding foundations, who always want to know if employees and alumni support the school,” wrote President Roger Casey in a message to donors.
The Fund ensures that McDaniel can sustain its demanding curriculum, exceptional internship and global programs, and leadership-building opportunities in the arts, athletics and residential life.
