New class of Global Fellows commits to global education

April 22, 2014

Twenty-seven students joined the second class of Global Fellows on April 10. Meant to enrich academic study in any discipline, membership in the Global Fellows Program formally acknowledges a student’s commitment to global learning and results in a special notation on his or her transcript.

The structured three-year program is open to freshmen and designed to enhance their understanding of global issues, develop heightened intercultural competency and cultivate the skills and attitudes important to leading successful lives in a global context. Students in the program invest in their global learning through increased international coursework, advanced language study, study abroad, community outreach and a globally focused senior capstone project.

The Global Fellows Program is part of Global Initiatives, a center that expands the college’s commitment to international education through new academic programming, globally-themed extracurricular activities and innovative approaches to travel learning, such as study abroad, as well as global experiential and civic engagement opportunities.
