New golf clubhouse opening in late November

Sep 30, 2008

A new golf clubhouse is under construction within a long putt from the former clubhouse, the oldest building on campus and once founding father Fayette Buell’s home, slated for restoration in the future.

The clubhouse features a team or conference room for meetings and recruiting, several offices, a full retail store plus snack and lounge area.

“We’re looking forward to making the move,” says Director of Golf and head men’s golf coach Scott Moyer. “The clubhouse will be great for recruiting and great for the students.”

The 1,700-square-foot pole building from Morton Buildings, Inc. in Gettysburg has a stone veneer base, Pella windows and Hardi-Plank siding similar to the siding on the newly renovated Garden Apartments. Completion of the building, which mirrors the style of the grounds maintenance building, is expected by Thanksgiving.

Across campus, adjacent to the historic Arch, crews are drilling the Earth-friendly geothermal wells that will heat and cool nearby Blanche Ward residence hall when renovations are completed in 2009.
