Parade magazine names McDaniel to A-List
In the Aug. 22, 2010, article, the magazine says, “The best liberal-arts schools emphasize undergraduate education, providing students with reading, writing, and evaluation skills they can use in any job.”
McDaniel College is described as a college that “has strong academics, great student support and engaged faculty,” according to Parade’s online comments from high school counselors.
“It’s most rewarding to be nationally recommended by high school counselors whose endorsement of McDaniel demonstrates their experience and understanding of the transforming power of the strong liberal arts education offered here,” said Florence Hines, vice president for Enrollment Management and dean of Admissions.
Gwyeth Smith, an independent high school guidance counselor and the subject of David Marcus’ book “Acceptance,” coordinated the recommendations of 43 top counselors nationwide for the Parade feature.
Parade is a national Sunday newspaper magazine, distributed in more than 400 newspapers in the United States. The most widely read magazine in the U.S., Parade has a circulation of 32 million and a readership of 71 million.
