Recycleable Art Contest is winning idea

Mar 09, 2009

Nearly two dozen McDaniel College students answered the call for “fun, serious, wacky or conventional art” with submissions made entirely of recyclable materials for the school’s first Recycleable Art Contest. The contest was held to raise awareness about recycling on campus, in connection with the school’s participation in the national campus recycling contest, Recycle Mania.

McDaniel’s Recycleable Art Contest winners, selected by members of the college’s Green Terra Committee, are:

First place: “A Fish” by Victoria Potucek.
Second place: “Picture frames” by Kayla Croghan.
Third place: “Recycle-Mania Mosaic” by Brian Rosato and Ryan Graves.

Runners-up: “Capri-Sun Purse” by Kay Dixon and Annie O’Grady, “Handheld Washer” by Sara Hanlon, and “Bicycle Hub Salt and Pepper Shakers” by Russell Morin.
