The panel discussion, “Looking, Moving Forward – The 10th Anniversary of September 11,” at 7 p.m. Sept. 8 in McDaniel Lounge will be moderated by Pamela Zappardino, co-director of the Ira & Mary Zepp Center for Nonviolence & Peace Education, with introductory remarks by Provost Thomas Falkner. Panelists include Rebecca Carpenter, professor of English; Walt Michael, executive director of Common Ground on the Hill; and Christianna Leahy, professor of Political Science and International Relations. An afternoon of reflection at 4 p.m. Sept. 11 in Memorial Square will be led by Mohamed Esa, professor of Foreign Languages, and the Rev. Larry Brumfield of the Westminster Church of the Brethren. Walt Michael & Co. will provide music, and the Old Main bell will be available for ringing between remarks and student readings of their poems, reflective thoughts and songs in memory of September 11. A small booklet containing all of the poems, reflections and drawings submitted by students will be distributed at the event.
