Reunion Weekend 2011 features SmartTALK with Marine Fisheries chief

Mark your calendar for the next SmartTALK with Eric Schwaab ’82, director of National Marine Fisheries Service, at 1:30 p.m. April 30 during 2011 Reunion Weekend April 29-May 1.

Alumni will gather on the Hill for Reunion Weekend to visit with friends, see campus developments, meet current students and enjoy a full schedule of activities – from heading back to class to sampling local wines, from savoring an international cuisine under the stars to touring the newly renovated Blanche Ward Hall and Englar Dining Hall.

The weekend is tailored for graduating classes ending in a “1” or “6” and of course 2010, for a first-year reunion, but all alumni are welcome to come back for a weekend that’s bound to bring memories flooding back.

Ninth President Roger N. Casey will give everyone the inside scoop on what’s new and coming up on the Hill. And, he will engage Eric Schwaab ’82 in SmartTALK conversation about Schwaab’s first year at the helm of the federal agency – a job he began just a few months before BP’s Deepwater Horizon oil rig exploded in the Gulf of Mexico – and the many challenges facing his team as they work to ensure the safety of our seafood while keeping the commercial fishing industry afloat.
