Sold Out: A Day for Book Lovers

August 29, 2011

McDaniel College will host the Friends of Carroll County Public Library to celebrate A Day for Book Lovers 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Mon., Sept. 19, at Decker Center Forum. Speakers include award-winning author Laura Lippman; Nancy Pearl, librarian and author of the Book Lust series, and Nora Rawlinson, creator of EarlyWord.com.

The event includes lunch and book signings. Cost for the lunch is $6 per person. Register by Wed., Sept. 14, at https://library.carr.org/booklovers or at any Carroll County Public Library branch.

This program is especially designed for book clubs, book-discussion groups, and current or future book club members. Learn tips for enhancing the book club experience.

Award-winning author Laura Lippman was a reporter for 20 years, including 12 years at the Baltimore Sun. Her Tess Monaghan books have won every major mystery prize. Lippman’s new book, “The Most Dangerous Thing,” will be available for purchase and signing at the event.

Librarian and best-selling author Nancy Pearl has become a rock star among readers and the source to whom people turn when deciding what to read next. She is a regular commentator about books on National Public Radio’s “Morning Edition.” Pearl’s Book Lust series will be available for purchase and signing. (Photo by Bob Peterson)

Nora Rawlinson is the creator of EarlyWord.com. Prior to her EarlyWord blog, Rawlinson was editor of Publishers Weekly and Library Journal.

This event is sponsored in partnership with Carroll County Public Library and the Division of Library Development and Services, Maryland State Department of Education, with funding from the Institute for Museums and Libraries. Special thanks to Harper Collins for making Laura Lippman’s appearance possible.
