Men’s basketball and men’s and women’s swimming begin 2014 with wins over Haverford and Salisbury.
McDaniel successfully fended off a second-half Haverford rally Jan. 11, stretching the game out to a 65-51 Centennial Conference (CC) men's basketball victory.
Andrew Merlo of Rehoboth, Del., led the Green Terror (9-4, 4-2 CC) with 19 points while Cameron Royster of Derwood, Md., added a career-best 10 points. Phillip Perry of Crownsville, Md., rounded out a trio in double figures with 12 points.
McDaniel won 10 of the first 12 events Jan. 5 to defeat Salisbury 148-109 in non-conference women's swimming action. Emma Duesterhaus of Spartanburg, S.C., and Abbie Schickler of Montgomery Village, Md., each won three times for the Green Terror (4-4), including as part of the 200-meter medley relay to open the meet.
In men’s swimming, McDaniel won 10 of the 14 events Jan. 5 to key a 133-129 victory over Salisbury in non-conference men's swimming action. Justin Allen of Ashburn, Va., led the Green Terror (1-6) to its first victory of the season with a four-win outing.
