In cross country
Kevin Bowman (Westminster, Md./Brunswick) finished third overall Oct. 11 to lead McDaniel to second-place finish at the Gwynedd-Mercy Invitational in men’s cross-country action. Bowman covered the 8,000-meter course in a time of 29:02.62 to lead the Green Terror, who finished with 41 points – 10 points behind team champion Gwynedd-Mercy.

The women’s team finished fourth with 106 points running without two of its top four runners and competing with just five individuals.

Lindsay Wilson (Catonsville, Md./Seton Keogh) finished 11th overall Oct. 3 in a field of 260 runners at the 35th Annual Brooks Paul Short Run hosted by Lehigh in women’s cross country action.

In field hockey

Kristin Mele (Ellicott City, Md./River Hill) scored two first-half goals Oct. 10 to stake McDaniel to a 2-0 lead en route to a 2-1 victory over Muhlenberg in Centennial Conference (CC) field hockey action.

Ninth-ranked Salisbury scored a 2-0 victory Oct. 7 over McDaniel in non-conference field hockey action.

Michelle Fluty (Huntingtown, Md./Calvert) tallied two goals, including 4 minutes, 6 seconds into the first overtime, to lead McDaniel to a 4-3 victory Oct. 4 at Swarthmore in Centennial Conference (CC) field hockey action.

In football
Juniata earned its first-ever Centennial Conference (CC) football victory in two seasons in the league – a 12-10 triumph over McDaniel Oct 4.

In men’s golf

Freshman Jeff Smith (Elkridge, Md./Cardinal Gibbons) carded a 78 Oct. 7 to lead McDaniel to a fifth-place finish at the Gettysburg Fall Invitational in men’s golf action.

Paul Kovalcheck (Fairless Hills, Pa./Truman) fired a career-low round of 68 in the first round to lead McDaniel to a sixth-place finish Oct. 5-6 at the Vulcan Invitational hosted by California (Pa.).

In women’s golf
Elyse Massa (Wescosville, Pa./Emmaus) fired a round of 91 Oct. 6 to lead McDaniel to a second-place finish at the Gettysburg Fall Invitational in women’s golf action.

In men’s soccer
Franklin & Marshall scored a 2-0 victory over McDaniel Oct. 11 in Centennial Conference (CC) men’s soccer action.

Timothy Wineke (Reisterstown, Md./North Carroll) scored at the 8:42 mark Oct. 8, and the McDaniel defense held No. 23 Mary Washington off the board for a 1-0 victory in non-conference men’s soccer action.

Joe Potucek (Germantown, Md./St. Johns at Prospect Hall) scored on a breakaway 54 seconds into the first overtime period Oct. 4 to lift McDaniel to a 1-0 victory over Washington (Md.) in Centennial Conference (CC) men’s soccer action.

Johns Hopkins won 4-0 over visiting McDaniel Oct. 1 in Centennial Conference (CC) men’s soccer action.

In women’s soccer
Franklin & Marshall took a 3-0 win over McDaniel Oct. 11 in Centennial Conference (CC) women’s soccer action.

Swarthmore scored a 1-0 double-overtime victory over visiting McDaniel Oct. 4 in Centennial Conference (CC) women’s soccer action.

In volleyball
Taylor Herrgott (Derwood, Md./Magruder) recorded 28 kills Oct. 11 to earn a spot on the all-tournament team, but McDaniel dropped both of its matches on the second day of the 27th Annual Green Terror Invitational in non-conference volleyball action. Herrgott recorded 19 kills Oct. 10 to lead McDaniel to a 1-1 day on the first day of the Invitational.

Franklin & Marshall notched a 3-0 win Oct. 8 in Centennial Conference (CC) volleyball action. The Diplomats (5-11, 3-1 CC) took the match by scores of 25-20, 25-19, 25-13.

Taylor Herrgott (Derwood, Md./Magruder) recorded 35 kills, four total blocks and two aces Oct. 4 in a pair of Centennial Conference (CC) volleyball victories. The Green Terror (8-9, 2-1 CC) defeated Swarthmore 3-1 (25-21, 15-25, 27-25, 25-15) before traveling down the road to Bryn Mawr and winning 3-0 by identical 25-17 scores.

Susquehanna scored a 3-1 victory over McDaniel Oct. 1 in non-conference volleyball action.
