Men’s Basketball
The McDaniel men’s basketball team was recently honored as the recipient of the Schoenfeld Sportsmanship Award, presented by the referees who are members of the Collegiate Basketball Officials Association. The Green Terror was honored for its sportsmanship on the part of the coach, players and fans during the 2008-09 season. Head coach Kevin Curley received the award May 9 at the organization’s annual banquet at the Tropicana Resort in Atlantic City, N.J. McDaniel finished the season with a record of 18-8 (13-5 CC) and advanced to the CC semifinals for the first time in program history. The 18 wins were the most in a single season for the Green Terror.

Men’s Lacrosse
Mike Hatton (Corning, N.Y./Corning East), a senior on the McDaniel College men’s lacrosse team, was selected as a member of the South Team and participated in the 2009 United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association (USILA) North/South Senior All-Star Game. The annual contest will take place as part of championship weekend in Boston. The 33-man Division III South team will take on the North team as part of a tripleheader at Harvard Stadium May 22.

Five members of the men’s lacrosse team were named to the 2009 All-Centennial Conference (CC) team May 5. Senior Mike Hatton (Corning, N.Y./Corning East) earned first-team honors while senior Gibbs Preston (Baltimore, Md./McDonogh) was named to the second team. Seniors Jason Stealy (Culver, Ind./Culver Academy) and Bill Warner (Yardley, Pa./LaSalle) as well as sophomore Matt Mummert (Dillsburg, Pa./Northern) earned honorable mention nods.

Women’s Lacrosse
Three members of the McDaniel College women’s lacrosse team were named to the 2009 All-Metro Region team May 21 by the Intercollegiate Women’s Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA). Junior Brittany Baer (Westminster, Md./Westminster) earned first-team honors while seniors Michelle Fluty (Huntingtown, Md./Calvert) and Lindsey McDonald (Germantown, Md./Damascus) were named to the second team.
