Two members of the McDaniel College baseball team have been named to the 2009 All-Centennial Conference (CC) team. Senior Harold Baines, Jr. (St. Michaels, Md./St. Michaels) was tabbed to the second team while senior Russell Coover (Schulykill Haven, Pa./Blue Mountain) earned honorable mention nods.

Justin Reitz (Halifax, Pa./Halifax) and Zach Croft (Laurel, Md./DeMatha) each had five hits for the Green Terror (15-15, 7-11 CC) in their final collegiate games April 25 when  Franklin & Marshall swept a doubleheader in Centennial Conference (CC) baseball action.

Men’s Golf:
Paul Kovalcheck (Fairless Hills, Pa./Truman) improved by one shot each day to finish with a three-round total of 234, leading McDaniel to a second-place finish April 24-26 at the 2009 Centennial Conference (CC) men’s golf championships hosted at The Bridges Golf Club in Abbottstown, Pa.

Women’s Golf:
Elyse Massa (Wescosville, Pa./Emmaus) shot matching rounds of 89 to finish second overall and lead McDaniel to its sixth team title April 25-26 at the 2009 Centennial Conference (CC) women’s golf championships at Olde Homestead Golf Club in New Tripoli, Pa.

Men’s Lacrosse:
Kyle Hadden (Moorestown, N.J./Moorestown), a junior on the McDaniel men’s lacrosse team, was named the Centennial Conference (CC) Defensive Player of the Week for the week ending Apr. 26.

Haverford scored a 9-8 victory over McDaniel May 1in the 2009 Centennial Conference (CC) men’s lacrosse semifinals. Matthew Daley (Wilmington, Del./A.I. Dupont) and DJ Rickels (Forest Hill, Md./Boys Latin School of Maryland) scored twice for the Green Terror (10-6).

Women’s Lacrosse:
Four members of the McDaniel College women’s lacrosse team were named to the 2009 All-Centennial Conference (CC) team April 23. Junior Brittany Baer (Westminster, Md./Westminster) and senior Michelle Fluty (Huntingtown, Md./Calvert) earned first-team honors while senior Lindsey McDonald (Germantown, Md./Damascus) and junior Leanne Hollinger (Westminster, Md./Winters Mill) earned honorable mention nods.

Brittany Baer (Westminster, Md./Westminster) recorded four goals April 22 but Dickinson scored a 19-11 victory over the Green Terror (9-8), which fell for the first time in four CC first-round games. Baer completed her record-setting season with 76 goals and has tied the conference record by netting at least one goal in the last 29 contests.

Outdoor Track:
Juris Eyler (Middletown, Md./Middletown) finished fourth in the 400 to lead McDaniel at the 2009 Centennial Conference (CC) outdoor track and field championship May 1-3 hosted by Franklin & Marshall. As a team, the Green Terror men finished ninth with 10 points. On the women’s side, McDaniel placed ninth with 18 points. Haverford ran away with its fourth straight title, racking up 226.75 points to outdistance second-place Johns Hopkins by 59.25 points.

Men’s Tennis:
Ursinus scored a 5-4 win over McDaniel April 25 in Centennial Conference (CC) men’s tennis action. Dan Hovorka (Storrs, Conn./E.O. Smith) and Ben Faber (Wayne, Pa./Conestoga) each won twice for the Green Terror (4-11, 0-9 CC), teaming for an 8-4 win at first doubles. Hovorka won 6-2, 6-3 at first singles while Faber was a 6-0, 6-0 victor at No. 2 in the final game of the season.

Women’s Tennis:
Ursinus scored a 9-0 win over McDaniel (1-11, 0-10 CC) April 25 in Centennial Conference (CC) women’s tennis action.
