More than 150 members of the McDaniel College community attended the 7th annual Taste of Latin America Dinner on Oct. 29, hosted by the Hispano-Latino Alliance (HLA). With “Indigenous Empires” as the theme, the event highlighted the food, music, traditions, and culture of the Mayans, the Incas and the Aztecs.

The students of HLA, hosting in both English and Spanish, taught the guests phrases in indigenous languages and used stories, videos and a surprise skit to engage the audience with Latin American culture. HLA president Angel Gutierrez (pictured above) said about the event, “I am sure everyone learned something from it.”
