Fishing and diving in Belize

What a catch!
Not even a fear of heights could keep Kristen Brennan '07 from climbing to the top of the highest temple in Lamanai, a town of old Mayan ruins.
"It was so amazing, you could see everything from up there," she says.
Brennan and 25 other students went tubing in caves, touched sting rays, and went snorkeling at the second longest reef barrier in the world during their trip to Belize, led by Political Science Professor Herb Smith and Associate Professor of Chemistry Brian Wladkowski.
"It's always a pleasure to see the students' enthusiasm as they're introduced to the world of reefs, San Pedro, and Mayan ruins." Smith says. |

This is the eighth "Fishing and Diving in Belize" trip, made popular as much by the sunshine and beaches as by its experience-based learning model. Students kept journals and were also required to write papers about a topic about Belize that interested them.
