Green Terror Field Hockey Captain Danielle DeColli knows the score
What defines Green Terror field hockey for you this season?
A young anxious group that is ready for competition and always striving to better themselves and the team. We look forward to the season as we are equipped with speed and field sense that will help us advance in and out of Conference play.
Favorite saying from any of your coaches?
Dr. Andi Hoffman- “Get Dirty.” She said this at a preseason drill.
What does the new stadium mean to the team and/or athletics at McDaniel?
It is going to create a sensational backdrop to the field, and add a new element to the tailgating and the game-day experience that already exists. I am hoping it will attract more prospective students and stand-out athletes to McDaniel College, when they see how spectacular it is.
What's your best team-building tip?
Act like family, play like champions. Off the field, we hang out all the time together, whether over a meal in the dining hall, studying in the library, or in our rooms. On the field, we still have fun, but we know that's the time to make us better athletes.
Most memorable game from last season?
Last year's 1-0 win against Haverford College was stressful, fun, and one to remember. They are always fierce competition, and our defense that game was impeccable. We were faced with numerous shots and corners toward the end of the game, and we held them off. After that game we knew that we had something special as a team, and we are excited to bring that back this year.
DeColli is a junior majoring in Business Administration, a regular on the Dean’s List, and president of the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee.
