Italy from Top to Bottom

McDaniel College Jan Term 2012 - Italy Through the Lens.


January 3 - 17, 2014

Visit Milan, Lake Como, Venice, Burano, Murano, San Marino, Florence, Rome, Pompei, Sorrento and the Amalfi Coast. "Professor Bloom’s January Term trips are known for their value, expert planning, and enrichment."

The Course

A photographic and cultural tour of Italy. This trip will be one of the highlights of your life. Fabulous Food and 3&4 star hotels. Feast on pasta, gelato, tiramisu, lattes, fresh seafood and a variety of local specialities.

The Itinerary

We will be using British Air and flying from Dulles to London and on to Milan. We will start with a panoramic tour of Milan, a tour of DaVinci’s Last Supper and the Milan Duomo before our Welcome Dinner.

On the 5th we will take a lake cruise of Como and a stop at Bellagio.

January the 6th is the huge Epihany Parade in Milan with the afternoon at leisure to explore the city.

January 7th we are off to Venice and an afternoon walking tour.

On the 8th we will take a private boat launch to the lagoon islands of Burano and Murano.

On the 9th we go to the independent nation of San Marino and then continue to Florence.

January 10th will include touring the Uffici Museum, Academia and the Duomo.

We are off to Lucca on the 11th, and on to Rome on the 12th. We will tour the Colosseum and Roman Forum.

The 13th is devoted to the Vatican and St. Peters, including the Sistine Chapel.

On the 14th we tour Pompeii and continue to Sorrento. From there we continue down the beautiful Amalfi Coast, stopping in Ravello & Amalfi.

We overnight in Salerno to see the Paestum ruins before returning to Rome for our Farewell Dinner and departure back to the states.

Expense

Approx. $3,995. Includes air, hotel, private motorcoaches, tour guides, museum entrances, boat rides, and many meals. Not covered are tips, some meals, and travel insurance.
