McDaniel College campus in Fall with Keep the World Moving banner

Important Updates for the Fall 2022 Semester

Residence Hall Policies: The college is lifting the restriction regarding off-campus guests in the residence halls beginning in August 2022. Please keep in mind that the Student Handbook policy regarding guests and visitation specifically states that students are permitted to have overnight guests no more than three nights in a 30-day period, with the agreement of roommates.

Student Health Services: All full-time students may access the off-site student health services available at the Carroll Health Group Primary Care College Square office by calling 410-751-2595 and informing the office that you are a McDaniel College student. Telehealth and in-office appointments are available, and transportation is available to the College Square Office and other local urgent care locations through the Department of Campus Safety shuttle service.

Recommended Pre-Arrival COVID Test: We strongly encourage all students, but especially students traveling to campus from a distance, to complete a COVID test on your own as close to your return to campus, as possible. This step will reduce the likelihood that you are unknowingly COVID-19 positive and exposing others to the virus.

What to do if you test positive: If you test positive prior to your arrival to campus, please notify the Wellness Center at and they will coordinate communication with other offices who need to be aware of your delayed arrival.

Second COVID-19 Booster: We anticipate receiving guidance from the CDC related to a second COVID-19 booster becoming available to individuals between the ages of 18-50. Should a second booster be recommended, we will provide ample time for students to receive the booster (including with on campus vaccinations clinics) before any required deadline.

Englar Dining Hall (Glar): At the start of the Fall 2020 semester, the college implemented a take-out option in Glar. This was necessary due to COVID-19 social distancing requirements, including students not being permitted to dine in Glar during the first weeks of the semester, and the delayed opening of the Hilltop Pub/Student Center renovation project. While this continued into the last academic year, this year Englar Dining Hall will return to an all-you-can-eat/dine-in venue only.

Additional Water Bottle Filling Stations: Thanks to student feedback and efforts by the Student Government Association (SGA), we are happy to share that additional water bottle filling stations have been added this summer in academic buildings and residence halls that did not already have them (Rouzer Hall, Blanche Ward Hall, Daniel McLea Hall, and 203 Pennsylvania Ave/North Village). As a result, there are now over 30 water filling stations across campus.

Student Vaccination Policy

All undergraduate students are required to be “Up to Date” on COVID-19 vaccination as described by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). This means receiving all doses of primary vaccine and recommended booster dose(s) when eligible. (e.g. Pfzier, Moderna, Johnson & Johnson).

If you have recently tested positive for COVID, your healthcare provider may recommend delaying the administration of your booster. In this situation, you will need to provide the Wellness Center with documentation of COVID-19 diagnosis within the past 90 days and/or a written statement from your healthcare provider about the necessity of delaying the booster. If you have specific questions related to their own personal circumstance, please contact the Wellness Center at
