McDaniel College campus in Fall with Keep the World Moving banner

It is with a sense of profound pride and gratitude that we reflect on the last academic year and the many efforts that occurred across campus to keep our community safe. McDaniel showed remarkable success in managing the COVID-19 virus and our community demonstrated its resiliency and care in so many ways. As we look to the future for next academic year, your safety is at the forefront of our minds even as we make plans to return to what we do best—a residential, in-personal educational experience on our beautiful campus.

August 11, 2021 Community Expectations and Health Protocols

As we approach the start of the fall semester, we have been closely monitoring the recent increases in COVID-19 cases throughout Maryland due, in large part, to the rapid spread of the Delta variant. As much as we are eager to return to normal operations, we must continue to exercise caution and follow the recommendations of the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) and Carroll County Health Department (CCHD). To help provide guidance to our community members, we have outlined the following community expectations and health protocols.

Student Vaccination Policy

Proof of COVID-19 vaccination is required for all undergraduate students in the 2021-22 academic year. This requirement applies equally to residential and commuter students, as well as those who have already had COVID-19. It does not apply to graduate students. Any vaccine authorized for use by the World Health Organization is acceptable. For students receiving a vaccine that requires two doses, both doses of the vaccine must be received to meet the requirement.

Students are required to complete the full number of doses of the relevant vaccine no later than September 1, though we strongly encourage students to complete the second dose at least two weeks prior to their return to campus. Students will need to submit vaccine documents to the Wellness Center by emailing wellness@mcdaniel.edu. If you are a student who participated in the campus vaccine clinic in the spring, your vaccination is already on file.
