Return to the Hill (RTTH)

As McDaniel College prepares for the Fall 2020 semester and the re-opening of campus, a Return to the Hill (RTTH) webpage has been created to keep our campus community informed. This page will be regularly updated as information and details become available about the Fall semester, including key decisions.

Coronavirus Task Force (CVTF)

McDaniel College is currently making careful preparations in response to COVID-19 (Coronavirus) and is closely monitoring reports from both the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention in addition to the World Health Organization.

The College is working closely with the Carroll County Health Department to follow all CDC protocols and recommendations to ensure the safety and health of the campus community. We remind the McDaniel campus community to continue to practice social distancing and be vigilant with handwashing. Anyone who is sick is reminded to stay home and follow all CDC recommendations.

A Coronavirus Task Force (CVTF) was formed in March 2020 and met regularly to evaluate the dynamic situation. As the College's focus shifted to planning for the future and the re-opening of campus at the end of the academic year in May, the Return to the Hill (RTTH) Task Force was created as an outgrowth of the CVTF. The RTTH includes a leadership committee along with five subcommittees and is following guidance from state and county health officials.

March 17, 2020 Message from President Casey

To help flatten the curve of virus transmission, we have moved McDaniel online for the rest of the semester. Though this difficult decision results in a significant upheaval of expectations about what McDaniel looks and feels like, I want everyone to remember the message I share each year at our first-year convocation. I remind everyone that a college is not a place, it’s not buildings, it’s not curriculum. A college is people. And you are those people. You are those people no matter where you are. You are McDaniel College. WE ARE MCDANIEL. And no virus will ever diminish The Hill. We will Climb Higher. We will See Farther. Read the rest of President Casey's message
