Classroom Health & Safety Guidelines

Consistent with the COVID-19 MD social distancing guidelines and to ensure the health and safety of all of us, the college requires masks and 6-foot social distancing during all classroom meetings.

Due to the importance of maintaining a safe and healthy environment for students and faculty, in the event these classroom guidelines are not followed, instructors may ask a student to leave the class.

These guidelines will be adjusted in accordance with the CDC and/or State of Maryland guidelines should they change. For additional information, please see other college-wide guidelines related to Covid-19:

Students should adhere to the following guidelines:

  • If you are feeling sick, you should NOT attend class.

You should inform your professor in advance that you will be absent. (You will be expected to complete any work missed as a result of the absence.)

  • Students should do the daily symptom check, according to college policy.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has identified the following symptoms to be COVID-19 related:

    • Cough
    • Shortness of breath or difficulty breathing (Call 911 if you experience this)
    • Fever of 100.4 degrees or more
    • Chills
    • Repeating shaking with chills
    • Running nose or new sinus congestion
    • Muscle pain
    • Headache
    • Sore throat
    • Fatigue
    • New GI symptoms such as diarrhea, vomiting or stomach pain
    • New loss of taste or smell
  • Avoid any type of physical contact with others.

This includes shaking hands, sharing pens/pencils, etc.

Six-foot distancing includes when you are entering and exiting the room, as well as when you are speaking individually with your professor before or after class.

  • The classroom furniture has been set up to maintain a 6-foot distance.

Furniture should generally not be moved or relocated; if there is a need to move seats temporarily, 6-foot distance between chairs must be maintained and furniture should be returned to its original location at the end of class.

  • Wipe down all high-touch surfaces

Cleaning supplies will be available in each classroom for use when you arrive and before you depart.

  • All students must wear a mask at all times throughout the class period.
